Welcome to the Department of Banking and Financial Management home page.

The mission of our Department is twofold. First, to develop new venues in the Department’s program in finance that will afford exciting learning opportunities to our students. And second, to establish a leading core for modern financial research. The finance faculty is committed to sustaining excellence in teaching activities, research activities and helping our students succeed.

Academic Seminars

The departmental weekly seminar series runs every Thursday 16:15-18:00 at the University of Piraeus. Seminars are intended to promote knowledge in the area of Finance and its related fields of Economics, Econometrics and Accounting. Our guest speakers from universities, research centers, think tanks or central banks in Greece and abroad present and discuss their latest research work.

Graduate Studies


The Graduate Studies program in Banking and Financial Management of the University of Piraeus is one of the most specialized Programs and the first of its kind in Greece.

The Graduate Program of the Department administers:

  • imageΒ A graduate diploma of specialization in the sector of β€œBanking and Financial Markets”. This title is equivalent to the international title of β€˜Master of Science (MSc) in Banking and Financial Markets’
  • A graduate diploma of specialization in the sector of β€œBanking and Financial Management”. This title is equivalent to the international title of β€˜Master of Science (MSc) in Banking and Finance’
  • A graduate diploma of specialization in the sector of β€œFinancial Analysis”. This title is equivalent to the international title of β€˜Master of Science (MSc) in Financial Analysis for Executives’
  • A doctoral diploma in the sector of β€œBanking and Financial Management”. This title is equivalent to the international title of β€˜Doctor of Philosophy (PhD)’
 

Career Day


Last February, for the first time, the Department organised a Career Day for its Graduate Students.

Executives, representing a number of private businesses, public organisations and banking Institutions offered to the graduate students the opportunity to learn more about the mission of participants, while they undergo Β interviews to obtain information concerning their employment prospects as well as to familiarise themselves with the procedures involved when seeking employment.

Scholarships


The Scholarship Program was initiated Β in 1991.

Every December the representatives of the sponsors award scholarship prizes to the students of the Department of Banking and Financial Management during a ceremony taking place in the Main Hall of the University.

Scholarships are given on an annual basis to the top 4 performers at each class, up to 16 students.
